Gert Herunter was a very good sprinter and Decathlete. In the 60ies with him, Horst Mandl and Walter Diessl Austria had three world class Decathletes. In 1968 Herunter set national Records in the 100m and 200m in Testmeetings before the Olympic Games. In the Decathlon he started with another PR in the 100m, but dropped out injured after the Discus throw.
In his career he won several national titles and set records in the sprint events and multi events. In 1973 he gave a short comeback for the national Decathlon Championships. He palced 5th without running the 1500 Meter.
