Walter Diessl was one of the
three world class Decathletes Austria had in the 60ies. The others were Horst Mandl and Gert Herunter. Each of
them owned the Austrain Decathlon Record at least for one time. In 1968 all
three of them were qualified for the Olympic Games in Mexico City. But only
Diessl finished there. 1968 was his best season, he finished 12th at
the Olympic Games with a new Decathlon PR and a national Long Jump record.
