Ancient Pentathlon in Carnuntum 7.5.2000:

 This years Pentathlon was the first one with great weather. At the mens event Thomas Ganger defeated his title from the last year. Since the first event 1997 he lost only one time - 1998 against Georg Werthner. He also started this time, but after two events he had to leave to a trainingscamp for the Jedermann Decathlon. But though Georg didnīt finish, Thomas hadnīt it easy this time. After 4 events Lukas Prettenthaler was leading, he had a great 5-Hop with a new stadium record and good throws. But the longer distances are a weak event for him, and he felt back to the third place in the final event. Lada Remus ran a great record in the final event and was also the best athlete in the 195 meters, but because of his weak throws he didnīt place higher than fifth.
At the womens event the winner was no surprise, it was again Sonja Spendelhofer, who won all the meetings in Carnuntum now since 1997. This year Corinna Rigler started the first time. I thought she might challenge Sonja, but she was handicapted with an injured achilles tendon.
