Eugenio started athletics as a High Jumper, with 21 years he switched to the Decathlon. In the next year he won the Central American Championships in the High Jump and Decathlon.
In 1994 he scored his first +8000p score and one year later set his PR with 8222p. He competed in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games. In 1996 he finished 25th and in the 2000 Games he had a no hight in the Pole Vault.
In Cuba he graduated at the University for Sport Science in 1993 and for Law in 1998.
In the year 2000 he won at the Vienna Jedermann Decathlon the IAAF-Group (7958p).
After Eugenio married an Austrian women he came in September 2001 to Vienna and started to train for a Comeback in Decathlon. His Comeback in Desenzano in 2002 did not work out well, he had to give up at the 1500m with a cramp. He was on the way for a score about 7400. But just 3 weeks later in Götzis Eugenio did a good Decathlon with 7915p points, place 9.
In 2003 he competed only once in the discus (43,11m) but in the meanwhile he became a member of the Austrian Bobsled team, and works as a fitness-instructor in Vienna.
