From the begin of his Athletics career he was a good thrower. In his first year of training he has already thrown the 6 kg shot to 15,29 meters and the 1,75 kg discus to 40,92m. His weak events always were the running events and he doesnīt finish the 1500m in Decathlons too often. He had the potential to score +7000 for a long time, and through he didnīt perform an individual PB in 1999, he scored his two best Decathlon marks in this year. In the inddor season of 1998/99 he moved from his long time coach Andrej Ptak to Herwig Grünsteidl. After the 2000 season, where he had many problems with injuries he decided to concentrate on the Discus Throw for the next season and trained again with Andrej Ptak.
After the discus didnīt work out as expected he moved back to Decathlon training in the spring of 2001. A foot injury handicapted him in this season and he had to withdrow from the national championships. But though his injury he won his 5^th regional Decathlon title from Loweraustria at the end of the 2001 season. He won the title again in 2002.
From 2003 he concentrated on the Shot Put and gained some weight. At the end of the season he tried to win his 7^th regional Decathlon title - but lost against his old rival Gerwin Cernicek who scored a +6000p after a long time again.
