Schnallinger Michael

Improved very fast and consistend in the Decathlon.
His best international result was the 10th place at the World Junior Championships 1998.
Though he has a fulltime job as a mechanic he improved in the spring of 1999 to 7463 points. At the European Junior
Championships in this year he had to give up after the first event because an injury. At the end of the season he came
back to win the national under 23 title in his best event, the javelin with a PR. In 2000
he was at the Austrian Army Sportsprogramm and concentrated on the Decathlon. In the
indoor season he showed big improvements in the Pole Vault, Hurdles (60mH: 8,17s) and
Shot Put. In his frist Decathlon 2000 in Götzis he scored a new PR. At the fall of
2000 he had to leave the Army program again, in the spring of 2001 he picked up serious
training again, and he scored good in Götzis and qualified for the European under 23 Championships. But this was the only Decathlon in that season, where he completed all 10 events.
He started bobsleding in 2002, but in the early season he ripped off his achilles tendon in a trainings session, and had to skip the outdoor season.
Today he competes sometimes in Javelin competitions.
