Röser Gerhard
Date/Place of birth: 26.10.68 Bregenz
He had a long way of training to get good enough to become the best Austrian Decathlete. After 10 years he won the Austrian title in 1995 in a very close match against the 1994 champion Leo Hudec. In the next year he improved his record again. After winning his first indoor title in 1997 he had problems with injured muscles tho whole season, but started at the national Championships and became second. After winning his second indoor title in 1998 he stopped training the decathlon, after a diagnosis of cancer. But he recoverd and now coaches some younger athletes at his team, and still starts in some athletic events. His wife Barbara became the national champion in 400m hurdles in 1999.
