The Menīs Decathlon was a big drop out event. From 17 starters only 4 finished all events. With rain and headwind in the first event all the athletes lost points in the first event. Thomas Tebbich quit after 3 events and will start next week at the Swiss Championships and hopes to score high there. Roland Schwarzl was after good results in the last weeks totally outpowered. His coach Sepp Schmidl thinks, that he might has a virus infection. He will compete at the Austrian open Championships in two weeks. If he gets back in shape he might try then a Decathlon a week later. Thomas Walser was dissapointed by his results, he expected much more from his shape. He might start next week in Switzerland also. The guest from Lithunia Rojs Piziks dropped out with no height in the fourth event. The other guest Aki Heikkinen had a good day 1, but the first two events on day two were not too good. After nine events he quit, and he will try to get the olympic limit in two weeks at his national Championships. Michael Schnallinger couldnīt throw the javelin, because an elbow injury - he also quit after nine events. Only one Athlete was in his best shape at this weekend - it was Thomas Lorber, who did not care about his slow 100 meter time, and scored with 7364 points a new PR and regional Decathlon Record for Kärtnen. With the second place Erwin Reiterer surprised with a comeback and good results in the jumps. At the last events he was handicaped by an painfull injury. Both might start at the international CSIT-Championships in Namur/Belgium at the begin of September.

The only Austrian Decathlete who is qualified already for the Olympic Games Klaus Ambrosch was just in the audience in Ried. He is in an built up phase now, and he will compete next at the open Austrian Championships.

At the womens Heptathlon the champion from last year Marion Obermayr scored her first +5000 score to win the title again.

Both Junior titles were won by Athletes that are still in the youth age group (under 17) Johannes Kuenz - who ran a great 1500 meter race to win the title, and Doris Röser. In three weeks at the youth multievent championships they can try to win their second title for this year.
