Franz Petter at the indoor Championships 2004

Franz Petter started very promising in his Decathlon career. In 1995 he scored a new national Decathlon record with youth implements.
In the next two years he qualified for the European and World Junior Championships. Also in the hurdles he sprinted very good times.
In the year 2000 he left Austria to study at the University of Nebraska/USA. But because of continouse problems with the sciatica nerv he left Nebraska again.
In the indoor season 2004 he was free of injuries and was able to perform a good training - so at the national indoor championships he surprised by winning the title with a good score of 5302 points.
