Trainingscamp at Lanzarote January 2001

The Austrian Decathlon Team was with coach Sepp Schmidl for two weeks at a trainingscamp at Lanzarote in Club La Santa. For the second week Olympic Decathlonchampion Erki Nool arrived and joined the team to work out with them.
The planning and goals for the athletes in this eason are different.
Klaus Ambrosch and Thomas Tebbich will start at the Erki Nool Reval Cup at the 3./4.Feb in Tallin. Their goal is to score a new Austrian Indoor Record in Heptathlon. Both showed that they are in good shape at the trainingscamp. Perhaps one of them will start at the national Heptathlon Championships also, if he misses the record in Tallin.
Their next big meeting will be the Decathlon in Götzis. Both are looking foreward to score +8070p there - th A-limit for the World Championships this year in Canada.
Roland Schwarzl will not compete in an Heptathlon this season, because there is no qualification meeting for the World Indoorchampionships. Last year he had a very good indoor season, and a poor outdoor season. This year he want´s a good outdoor season. So he prepears for Götzis. His coach Sepp Schmidl thinks, that he can score between 7800 and 8000p there, if his preperation goes well.
Michael Schnallinger just picked up training again at this trainingscamp. He stopped training after he was thrown out of Sports program of the Austrian Army. His goal is now to get in shape for Götzis.
The big Decathlon for the Austrian Team is the European Cup this year in Ried/Austria. The best two team qualify for the Super League. The favorites for the team match is the Czech Team. Even if Tomas Dvorak and Roman Sebrle don´t compete they still have a strong team. Beside the Austrian Team also the Netherlands, Sweden and Estonia (in the case Erki Nool starts) have a good chance to qualify for the Super League. It will be an exiting meeting.

Beside the training was some time to relax in the sun.

At the pool were some good looking girls
