Dear Deca-Friend!

Already 1040 confirmed entries (90% paid) make certain that in one month (23/24.6.) Vienna will see the world´s largest decathlon (round the clock) in history. To make the affair really special I have engaged Tomas Dvorak and Roman Sebrle to show three events (110H, Discus, PV) before the huge victory ceremony on June 25th (4 p.m.). During the check-in for the starting packages on Thursday evening (22.6.) we are proud to present a javelin-competition between Mick Hill (2nd at the Europeans in Budapest 98) and Austria´s record-holder Gregor Högler (84,03m). The decathlon itself has entries from strong US-guys including several NCAA-medal-winners (Zuber, Pendergist, Borozinsky, Nichols) and Brazilian champion Bindilatti. The European Cup one week later and Olympic caution has prevented a higher entry of class-athletes until now. But there is some budget left (especially for >8000ers who warrant some world-press coverage) . . . Conditions are fine at the facilities for the elite group - not so crowded as some might imagine - just with an uncomparable dense surrounding deca-atmosphere.
