This years event surprised with a large field of competitors in the menīs Decathlon.
17 athletes started, and 12 finished the event. The event was interesting, because Gerhard Zillner - who concentrated this season on the Shot Put - wanted to win his 7th title.
It would have been the 6th in a row.
But his old rival Gerwin Cernicek made constant improvements since his comeback.
Until the Pole Vault it looked like Gerhard will win, even though bad throws for him.
But he could only manage 3,40 Meters, and Gerwin 3,70m. In the Javelin both had good throws.
With the 1500m Gerwin was able to win his 4th title.
