Bronze Medal for Roland Schwarzl in Madrid
Decathlete Roland Schwarzl had a sensational Hepathlon in Madrid, and won the bronze medal at the European Indoor Championships.
His score of 6064 points was of course a new national record, and the first +6000 score of an Austrian Athlete ever.
Also his 3rd place was the first senior medal of an Austrian Decathlete at an international championship.
Like in Athens Roland started with a new PR in the sprint, and set another two in the hurdles and middle distance.
In the Pole Vault he equaled his indoor PR.
Before the 1000 Meter it was open who getīs the third medal place between Roland, Chiel Warners and Attila Zsivoczky.
The Hungarien who is a fast distance runner took the lead at the 1000 meters, but Roland ran his own pace and stayed in front of Chiel Warners.
At the end he had a new 1000 meter PR and enough points to stay in front of Warners and Zsivoczky.
