Ceplak is back 1:59.33 at 800 m

WIEN, Jan 30: The Athletic.bet Indoor Classic in Ferry Dusika Hall was the site of great return of world indoor record holder Jolanda Čeplak form Slovenia. She won her first race of the year in great style and second best time of the season 1:59.33. Second placed Najla Jaber from Holland was far away timed 2:04.40. Great display of shape was also made by Jason Gardener who won his heat at 60 m with 6.58 and repeated similar feat in finals 6.62. Dominican sprinter Arismendy Peguero was the best twice – in the afternoon he won 400 m achieving new best of 46.73 and later in the evening also the 200 m with another best of 21.38. The latter beeing a new national record. Hurdles sprint was of high european standard – new belgian name Adrian Deghelt achieved his best 7.73 and beat by 0.01 Slovenian Damjan Zlatnar (he missed his national record only by 0.01) and by another 0.03 the local hero Elmar Lichtenegger. Austria was happy because Martin Steinbauer won the 3000 m with Birmingham standard 7:56.47 (as did Lichtenegger). Italian Christian Neunhauserer was the best at 1500 m with 3:43.55. Strong 800 m was dominated by Hungarian David Takacs as on Friday in Budapest but this time with better 1:48.54.

Olympic medallist Ionela Tirlea from Romania was the best at 400 m in very solid 52.94 and she gives clear signs that after health problems in last year she is back. Slovenian 800 m runner Brigita Langerholc was second and her 53.11 meant new national indoor record. Marija Šestak from Slovenia in her first triple jump of the year went over 14 metres. Another Slovenian wins were made by Sonja Roman at 1500 m (standard for Birmingham and indoor best 4:10.88) and Radmila Vukimirovic at 60 mHurdles. The fastest was anyway American Lolo Jones in heats 8.08, but she did not run the finals. Coming back is also Nora Ivanova-Edletzberger (formerly Bulgarian and Turkish runner) as she won the 200 m in very good 23.75. Czech junior Katerina Cechova was second (24.30). Second placed Pia Tajnikar at 60 m achieved with 7.40 the Birmingham standard for Slovenia. Winner was Magdalena Khristova from Bulgaria with fastest time of all three meets 7.32.

Title sponsor of the third of development meets in Central Europe after Friday in Budapest and Sunday in Bratislava is a global betting website devoted only to athletics. Badurova goes indoor best 450, Rybova also 450

PRAHA, Jan 30: At pole vault competition in Prague´s hall in Stromovka both top female pole vaulters showed great shape. Katerina Badurova bettered her indoor best by 15 cm and jumped in first 450 cm. Pavla Rybova (formerly Hamackova) did the same in second and both tried unsuccesfully 455. It looks like a matter of time, when the national record 457 by Hamackova in 2003 will be broken. Stepan Janacek in male competition did this time only 530 cm.
