ISINBAYEVA IN POLAND

BYDGOSZCZ: The 3rd Pedro´s Cup indoor jumping meet will have on Feb 14 the great star attraction in Russian flyer Yelena Isinbayeva. She already confirmed her attendance and it will be her third start of the season after New York and Donyetsk. The organisers also announced that for breaking the overall world record (that means at least 502) the bonus will be 50 000 euros.Also competing should both local heroes in this event Monika Pyrek and Anna Rogowska. Former record holder Svetlana Feofanova from Russia is on the start list too. She will start the season at russian nationals in Volgograd (Feb 9-11). Second competition of the evening is men´s high jump. Czech silver medallist from Goteborg Tomas Janku will face swedish talent Linus Thornblad and russian vice world indoor champion Andrey Tereshin.

VOGGOLI BECOMES MOTHER
ATHENS: Greek websites are reporting that European Champion 2002 in discus Ekaterini Voggoli gave birth to a child on Jan 16. It was a baby girl. She did not competed in last two years and wants to be back for this summer. She last time competed seriously back in 2004. She is national record holder with 67.72 in 2004.

CHISTYAKOV WANTS BE BACK IN RUSSIAN COLOURS

MOSCOW: Russian websites are saying that pole vaulter Viktor Chistyakov wants again represent Russia. He travelled to Australia end of nineties and started to represent his new country in 1999. For Australia he was 5th at Olympic Games in Sydney and in summer 1999 he jumped his best 590 cm. Now he is 3 months back in Russia and jumped over last weekend in Moscow solid 570 cm. At Russian Winter IAAF Indoor meet on Jan 28 he wants to compete for Russia.

BANS FOR HUNGARIANS

MONTE CARLO: IAAF confirmed three new doping bans for Hungarian athletes. All had positives samples at National Championships on July 22 in Debrecen and all for the same substance Boldenone. Interestingly all their results from June 17 (as per IAAF web site) are deleted that means including European Cup in Thessaloniki, Greece and European Championships in Goteborg in one case. The names are sprinter Geza Pauer (bests of 10.26 in 2000 and 20.69 in 2003), discus thrower Roland Varga (67.38 in 2002, he was 11th in Goteborg so this will be deleted) and national record holder in javelin Gergely Horvath (81.55 in 2003). All three are banned until Sep 17 2008 that means they will not be able to compete at Olympic Games in Beijing.

CHARFREITAG COMPETES IN LUBBOCK

DALLAS: Slovak hammer record holder Libor Charfreitag will compete this weekend in Lubbock, Texas in his indoor speciality weight throw. He is second best all-time in this event and holder of European best with 25.68 m in 2005. „For this indoor season I am not looking for any breaking performance. I did not had any special training for this event, my concentration is fully on the hammer for summer,“ he explained.

FAST WALKING IN IRELAND

NENAGH: At AAI Indoor Games in Ireland some fast women walking happened. Gillian O´Sullivan achieved very good 12:32.04 at 3000 m. Close were Olive Loughnane (12:35.30) and slovakian walker Zuzana Malikova who with 12:37.84 attacked the national record of Zuzana Zemkova 12:34.31 since 1993. Malikova competed on her way to Portugal to a training camp. O´Sullivan is the world best holder at this event with 11:35.34 (in Belfast, 2003).

THREE ATHLETES IN TOP TEN

PRAHA: At the Czech Sportsmen of the year Gala Ceremony three athletes have been in the top ten. In the vote of Czech Sports Journalist which was broadcasted live by television was decathlon European Champion Roman Sebrle on the 4th place, silver medallists from Goteborg were also included.
