ANN ARBOR (USA): Agent Joseph Codrington informed that the high jumper Adam Shunk had last week a car accident where he broke 1 rib and as a result he will not be able to compete in January or February. „It is unfortunate as he has been training better than he has ever done in the past and we were looking forward to a year where 2.34m was the goal,“ writes Codrington. He was US indoor champion 2006 and no qualifier at World Indoors in Moscow last year. His best is 230 from May 2005. He should be ready for outdoor season.

BRATISLAVA (SVK): Triple jumper Dmitrij Valukevic who changed in 2005 his citizenship from Belarus to Slovakia mooved from Bratislava to Moscow, Russia. He will continue to represent his new country but is no more coached by Aleksandr Beskrovniy, the husband and coach of world record holder Galina Cistjakova, both now living in Bratislava, Slovakia. Valukevic will pass indoor season and his goal is to compete well in Osaka at World Championships. His new coach in Moscow is the experienced all time great Vitold Krejer (74 years old) who also coached the legendary Viktor Saneyev. He also has olympic medals from Melbourne and Rome. Interestingly Krejer also coached Dmitrij´s father Gennadiy who was European Indoor Champion back in 1979.

POTCHEFSTROOM (RSA): Czech decathlon world record holder Roman Sebrle is already since last week at his usual training camp in Potchefstroom, South Africa. During his one month long stay he wants to prepare for the coming indoor season. Already in the first weekend of February he is scheduled to compete at Reval Hotel´s Cup in Tallinn, Estonia, the traditional and currently only one international indoor fixture for multieventers. Then he wants succesfully defend his European indoor title from Madrid.

YEKATERINBURG (RUS): From later published results from Sunday EAA Indoor Permit Meet also 300 m race by European Champion 2002 Olesya Zykina 37.19 should be noted and 2000 m by Yelena Kanales 5:46.60. Agent Pavel Voronkov confirmed that the surprise high jump winner Viktoriya Slivka is now Klyugina as she married to the 2000 Olympic Champion Sergey Klyugin. (full results at EAA Website).

OPAVA (CZE): Czech junior athlete of the year, pole vaulter Jan Kudlicka started the season in his birthplace Opava at an indoor contest and went over 503 cm. He then missed 507 cm. His best from last year is 530 and he was 5th at World Junior Championships in Beijing. He still in 2007 belongs to junior category.
