Janicki and Bak winners of Samsung Supermarathon |
BUDAPEST, Oct 23 – Jaroslaw Janicki from Poland and Maria Bak from Germany succesfully defended their last year titles at the 17th Samsung Supermarathon. This ultra-running event had an innovation this year because to the classical countries included on the route also Slovak Republic was added. During the course from Wien,Austria to Budapest, Hungary also Bratislava in Slovakia was included. The whole race was 318,6 km long and the runners took part in 5 stages in 5 days. The longest part was the first stage from Wien to Bratislava worth of 93,6 km. Total time for Janicki was 22:23:46 h, second Anatoliy Kruglikov from Russia was second by some 26 minutes. Janicki won all stages except of the last. Maria Bak equalled with her fifth win the record set by Janos Bogar from Hungary who also won the races five times. The 47 year old German runner was the best female runner in all stages. She was in total order 8th best runner of the event. On start 42 runners and 167 relay teams (composed by five runners) were registered. From them 34 runners and all relay teams achieved the finish in Budapest.
