Ottey another world best for 45+


VILLACH, July 14 – At first of new Austrian series top 4 the everyoung Merlene Ottey (representing Slovenia) achieved new world record for age 45+ with 11.64. With legal wind +0.1 she was second behind local runner Bettina Muller (11.56). She was even faster in her heat with 11.42, but the wind was over the limit +2.4.

Ziolkowski world leader 82.31


NIKITI, July 15 – At the special throwing meeting organised by Papadimitriou family near Thessaloniki (this year also added by shot put competitions) the polish former olympic and world champion Szymon Ziolkowski went as first this year over 82 metres in hammer throw. His result 82.31 confirmed his shape as this was fourth 80+ competition of the season. In total it was his 10th competition of the season and he lost only twice in May– with German Markus Esser in Halle and in Ostrava with Koji Murofushi. He looks along with Belarus hammer throwers as the main favourite for Goteborg. Series of Ziolkowski: f-80.23-f-80.36-82.31-f.
