Spotakova throws world best

Praha June 24-25 Czech national championships had its highlight already on first day as the javelin thrower Barbora Spotakova achieved new world best of the season with 65.50 m already in her first throw. She then passed two throws and between achieved another two 60 m plus results. „I am totally satisfied, but my shape should peak in Goteborg. Nothing similar like last year in Helsinki where I did no qualified should not happen again. And later in the season I hope to break also the national record,“ said Spotakova. Czech republic is currently the top country in the world. Nikola Brejchova is second in the current world list, but her competition on Saturday was not as planned. „My young daughter had problems with her teeths so we did not slept well, so this is one of the days you should quickly forget. And also I was recently in tough training so the peak should come later,“ explained the Czech record holder. Jarmila Klimesova was this time better with new best of 62.60 and that means that in the top 6 of the world lists Czech has three throwers. The competition at Rosicky Stadium brought also other excellent performances which are confirming the quality of the team which will fight for medals in Goteborg. For example pole vaulter Adam Ptacek jumped clearly over 575 and attacked with nice attempts new national record of 582 cm. Also Stepan Janacek nearly went over 575 cm. Excellent also the high jump battle won by Tomas Janku over Svatoslav Ton or clear attempt at 194 by Barbora Lalakova in same women´s event. Bronze medallists from Helsinki were classical winners in pole vault (Pavla Hamackova her season best of 450 and tried for new national record 461) and discus (Vera Pospisilova-Cechlova 61.79, after having some problems with her leg). Fast times were achieved by men at 200 m and 400 m Hurdles and in this events already three qualified to European Championships. Nice summer weather, sometimes too hot mainly helped the athletes. After the championships already nearly 40 persons fulfilled the standards for Goteborg and it looks like the biggest team since independency will travel to Sweden.
